Save This Space Campaign Update

In an effort towards the sustainability of Yoga Swami, we are reaching out to our community to assist with finding a co-tenant for the cottage on the property.

Please review the information below for your consideration and share with anyone interested via email and Facebook:

  • Yoga Swami, a donation-based yoga studio on the coast highway in downtown Encinitas, is offering the 650 square foot cottage on the property for business tenancy.
  • Yoga Swami is an established, community-minded environmentally and socially conscious yoga studio. The land upon which it resides is certified by the National Wildlife Federation. The yoga studio is located in a yurt behind the cottage on the property.
  • The cottage has retail and office space as well as a bathroom and small kitchen. There is ample natural light, hardwood floors, custom built-in display units, and space for outdoor displays.

Preservation of Community Land and Building

My name is Dawn Singer, founder and volunteer of Yoga Swami and co-founder of the former The Yoga Center in Carlsbad. Yoga Swami, a popular donation-based eco yoga studio, is in the process of organizing an action group to help save the land on which it is built. The action group is committed to assisting the current owner of the land to identify a buyer who will preserve the land and the building before the land is sold to developers.

While we completely understand the needs of the current owner of the land, who has been extremely supportive of our venture, the action group is forming to help find a new owner who will continue to value our mission. We are calling upon everyone in the community to support this cause.

The land is on the market; as a community,
we have the opportunity to preserve this land and building.

Why is this so important to the community? Yoga Swami sits on land certified by the National Wildlife Federation as a part of its worldwide network of mini refuges. The certification recognizes the center’s conscientious planning, landscaping, and sustainable gardening, which allows for wildlife to find quality habitat-food, water, cover, and a place to raise their young. Built in the early 1940s, Yoga Swami is an integral part of the heritage and history of Encinitas.

Yoga Swami was founded on the ideals of inspiring a different way of being in the world by providing a place of nonexclusive community involvement and consistent practices that inspire its sustainability and the preservation of land. Through its donation-based model, Yoga Swami is certified by the Green Yoga Association, a network of businesses, teachers and individuals who practice non-violence to the Earth through business and yoga, as an eco yoga studio.

There are many ways to help “Save This Space,” the slogan created for the campaign.

The best possible outcome would be to have a benefactor buy this property
with this mission in mind.
